Meet Craig and Pam:

- After attending pottery classes at an art center in New Jersey and picking up the craft of throwingat the wheel, Craig and Pam set up a full scale studio nestled in the scenic Hudson Valley of New York.

CRAIG: an avid car enthsiast and a experienced potter since 1973, combines these two interests, creating the cars.  Craig sees cars as unique machines,and sculpts Car-toons with the same feeling.

PAM: a trained artist, sculpts the people.  She attended Memphis College of Art and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from , SUNY New Paltz.  She taught art at Orange County Community College.  Her pieces have been shown in NYC.  As a figurative scupture, she captures individual characteristic using photos sent by the customer.

 Craig and Pam Booth don't just sculpt cars out of clay. They can make boats too. Here is another happy customer next to his sculpture of a boat.  All concepts considered.

With your photos, the begin with a loosely formed slab of low fired earthenware clay over bunched up newspaper.  Clay is added and subtracted until it begins to resemble the car.  This stage alon takes as much as eighteen hours of hand-on-work.  The sulpture is then fired in a kiln, glazed and refired.  Special details are now added.  The pieces take approximately six to eight weeks to complete.  The one off sculptures are approximately 12 inches long. 

The figures are scupted with as much likeness as possible from the photos received.  They are hand painted with a ceramic stain.

The more details required, the more the price varies.  Neither the cars, nor the people are done to any full scale and colors are as nearly matched as possible using clay and glazes.

TO GET STARTED:

     All that is necessary to begin is a $200.00 deposit with photos (front, back and side of car; front and profile of person).  The person does not have to be in the car for the pictures.  Any other information such as eye color, color or clothes and specific gesture or actvity would als be needed to start.
